You may know Hemad Fadaifar as the most interesting bartender in Milwaukee, but his status has been taken to a whole new level as the winner of Dos Equis’ “Stay Thirsty” grant. In his pursuit to become the most interesting man in the world, he will climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, explore the Himalayas, and much more.

Although he was born on Long Island and is about to travel the world, he still calls Milwaukee Home, and here’s why;

"Home isn’t a place, it isn’t an address, it’s not where you lay your head at night, it’s not where your mail gets sent to, and it’s not some place you can find on Google Maps. Home is a feeling, not a location. That’s why people say "make yourself at home" - they want you to feel a certain way, regardless of where you are. I call Milwaukee Home because of the humble people, the diverse culture, that Midwest charm, that small "big-city" feel, the constant support it has for it’s community and appreciation for local businesses, and the opportunity it provides individuals to grow for those that are willing to take a chance - that makes me feel "at home". I wasn’t born in Milwaukee, nor do I plan on living here my whole life; however, Milwaukee has made me feel at ease, appreciated, and loved - that’s what home is - that’s why I call Milwaukee Home."

To say thank you to everyone who has supported our new line STiTCH we put together a blog featuring some of the customers who came in on the day of the launch to take home a one of a kind shirt. Each shirt has a different part of the Milwaukee city flag stitched in, no two shirts are the same.

Tyra McFarland grew up moving from place to place with her mom and grandmother after her mom served in the U.S. Navy. Eventually her family settled in the Milwaukee area, and years later McFarland has finally found a sense of “home” in our city. Her most recent accomplishment is being crowned Miss Southern Wisconsin 2014 through the Miss America Organization, and before she competes for the crown of Miss Wisconsin in June, we wanted to ask her why she calls Milwaukee home:

"I moved every year up until 8th grade when I moved to Milwaukee. People ask where I’m from and I always say I’m an adopted cheesehead! Wisconsin and especially Milwaukee is where I feel most at home. A lot of the big first life lessons happened here; my first heartbreak, the first time I got in trouble at school and sent home, my first job, all of that happened here.

I want to use my platform in Milwaukee to increase awareness for mental health in our community. By educating our community it helps open the door for a conversation about these issues that everyday people in Wisconsin and others around the country face because of a lack of understanding about different mental health conditions. If I can give others who share my passion for education about mental health a voice in our community I’ll know I have used my platform for the right cause.”

Signif was born and raised in Milwaukee and is currently making a name for herself and her music in New York City. We wanted to know why she still calls Milwaukee home as she develops her career in the city that never sleeps:

"Milwaukee is home, not just because it’s where I was born and raised. Milwaukee is home because it was my foundation for life! Milwaukee is where I started and where I will probably end. Home is where the heart is so when I travel I always acknowledge Milwaukee."
